Prior to joining Shumaker, Doug was a founding member of Fraser Clemens Martin & Miller, LLC. Before practicing law, Doug worked as an environmental manager and solvent recovery system manager for a chemical compounding facility and as a project engineer in the chemical process group of a global engineering consulting firm. His practical experience and legal acumen make Doug a sought-after speaker on IP topics, both locally and abroad. He frequently shares his insights at legal seminars hosted by Shumaker and other companies throughout Northwest Ohio, and he has been invited to speak at broad-level international symposiums in both Germany and China.
Being community-minded, Doug is involved in and supports a number of local organizations. His current roles include serving as Chairman of the Board for the Northwestern Water & Sewer District, Vice President of the Bulldog Foundation’s Board of Directors, and member of the Wood County Economic Development Commission Board of Directors. As an innovative lawyer, Doug takes particular interest in startups and works closely with participants in The Hatch, a Bowling Green State University student business incubator.
In addition to his busy practice, Doug is an avid scuba diver, having completed over 1,000 dives around the world. He also has a passion for anything outdoors and is a student of primitive survival techniques.
